FOOT RACE.—A foot race took place on the 7th inst., at Coxbench, on the turnpike-road, between Geo. Knifton, of Horsley, and Oliver Fletcher, of the former place : the distance was one mile, for 5l. a-side. Knifton beat his opponent with the greatest of ease, leaving him 16 yards behind ; he ran the mile in five minutes and twenty-one and-a-half seconds. |
